If ye met us at the county fair and had yer photo taken with our salty sea dog captain or some of his crew…, we say Aye again.. andyer pictures are there on the right ..just click the fair picture link on the side of the screen me hearty. Ye can purchase a pic or two..or maybe even a nice mug with yer smiling face on it fer sippin’ coffee or grog… and when ye do a portion of the booty goes to our program…Arrrrrgh!
Now here be a refresher on Pirate Plan 9 ..the nine things ye need in your treasure chest should a storm blow up or some nasty disaster strikes
1. Water…a gallon per pirate per day for 3 days… and don’t ferget some for ye pets and parrots!
2.Food..grub.eats.. things that will last (cans and such like ).plus something for the furry ones.
3.Clothes…ye wouldn’t want to be a naked Pirate now would ye? Footwear and clean socks are a good thing to!( Don’t ferget an extra eyepatch)
4. Meidicine. Three days worth of what ye need. We don’t need sick pirates in a storm!
5.Flashlight and extra batteries… so ye can see what the other Pirates are up to!
6.A can opener…unless ye have real strong teeth!
7 .A battery powered radio with extra batteries…so ye can find out what’s going on.
8. Yer hygiene items ye might need on the poop deck..even though we Pirates don’t like soap it’s a good idea to have some!
9. First aid stuff..bandaids and non prescription medicines… in case ye are wounded.
Keep yer stuff in a secure place, and check yer supplies every month… remember a prepared Piarte is a happy pirate!
Arrrrrgh!

Four Montgomery County CERT members travelled to Haiti from June 15-25 to offering ‘train the trainer’ hands on CERT style emergency training to teachers, aid workers, and residents in two Haitian communities. Our team members trained 43 Haitians in Brossier and Montrouis Haiti. Our ‘sister’ teams have already been in action offering aid and rescue inn difficult circumstances. This outreach DOES NOT receive any county funds, and are relies on donations to defray the expenses of this mission. The need is ongoing, so if you’d like to help in any amount, please send a check or money order to

CERT programs serve in more than 170 communities nationwide. Montgomery CERT is managed by the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service and is based on the DHS/FEMA/Citizen Corps national standard curriculum and certification. The CERT basic training program is a 24-hour course, offered free to Montgomery County residents, over a 4 week period several times each year.
CERT members learn basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using training learned in the classroom and during hands-on exercises, CERT members can give critical assistance to others in their neighborhoods or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in safety education and emergency preparedness projects in the community. Upon completion of the course, CERT graduates are often assigned to neighbourhood teams where they play an important role in community safety.
